This picture just warmed my ol' ticker.

Now I hope it warms yours.

1 more month

Picture courtesy of : http://awkwardfamilyphotos.com---> My fav.

Today is the 25th, and that means that in exactly one month from now, Christmas will have descended upon us!

I'm pretty excited for Christmas, of course, but even more so a little trip occuring the day after. The fam and I will drive down to Washington state to catch up with some rellies (NZ speak... I better translate that. Relatives.) that I havn't seen in way too long. In fact, it has been over a year since we were together in August. What ees thees??

Excited to see a new baby cousin too.

As for today, tomorrow, the day after and the day after that, I will attempt to do homework, productive errands of all sorts, and have a bit of fun and relaxation... all in equal parts before a new work week starts. Man, I'm getting sick of paying to work.

I'm doing my LPN preceptorship at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on the 7th floor AKA complex wounds and general surgery. It's fun, believe it or not! If you stay there, we will take good care of you:)

Do ducks have jackets?

I am so glad I stumbled upon this website. I needed a bit of a laugh to distract me from the really boring paper I have to write!

In fact the laughing fits it evoked were so violent that I dropped my dish of roasted veggies onto the oven door and into the drawer beneath all while burning my arm... 10 minutes after I had already left the computer.

I don't have an IPhone and maybe that is a good thing:) This sort of thing still happens-- withOUT autocorrect!

Happy Remembrance Day! I noticed today that while both my grandfathers were involved in WW2, I've lost my chance to ask them about it. Sad. For future Remembrance Days, I hope I (and everyone) don't forget what to remember.

Saturday's shindigs

  1. Went to work and cooked breakfast for an old lady (98 years old!). Too bad I couldn't eat any of it.

  2. Read the newspaper cover to cover. I can't remember the last time I've had the time to do that! Who knew you have to complete a three year apprenticeship to "drive" an italian gondola?

  3. Ate my daily portion of yogurt, fruit and chia seeds. Mmm:)

  4. Finished and sent in a school assignment while glancing at Facebook and Youtube now and then

  5. Made Halloween plans ...ish (I still have some convincing to do regarding the haunted house!)

  6. Fixed my artificial cobwebs. They disturbingly looked a lot like snow which ruined the effect.

I just really like this version of Taylor Swift's song. The little girl is pretty darned cute, too.

Hope all is well where you are today!

I'm thankful for...

  • When I went running this morning, I saw many people with their arms full of goodies being greeted at the front door by friends or family

  • Two girls who call themselves "Dala". One of their songs is called "Horses".

  • Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother

  • Personal accomplishments and little victories

  • Comfy, colourful hoodies

  • Clean air and a healthy body to run around in it with

  • Friends to share holidays with

We had our dinner on Saturday and I'm already so excited to do it again next year! Thanks Samantha!

So this is my new "little place". The house as a whole is anything but little, but my portion of it is rather puny:) It's all I need though!

This weekend we started getting some Thanksgiving plans underway, and boy, am I excited! I still don't know what I should bring. I'm thinking something light and healthy- maybe a fingerfood. Ideas?

I'll post this before the power goes out... which I am counting on happening at some point! It's rather windy.

I used to keep a diary many moons ago, and in this diary, I would write an entry roughly every year. It started off every day, then every 2 or 3 days, and pretty soon an entire year would pass before anything was written in it! I would tell my diary everything that had happened during that time, and promise to write more often. I feel like the same situation is occuring with the blog, but this time we're talking only 4 or 5 months... so far!

This is Hornby Island. Monica, Willow, Cory, and I went camping on the long weekend in July (along with everyone else and their dogs)

The tidepools were awesome. I do not think I could ever get bored of tidepools... it has yet to happen anyway!

Jon kayaked over for the evening which is a crazy feat for most people... but just a day in the life for him! Mmm- hot dogs.

On our way home we stopped to see Marina who treated us to some rather tasty "Aussie" Burgers. This picture really doesn't do them any justice. My favourite part was the radishes:)

I'm back at school now, but only until January when I will be a Licensed Practical Nurse! Woot! My education will have a name! Now off to bed as the Fireball and the Zipper (rides at the fair) have completely tired me out. Who knew I could scream so incessently? :)

Have a lovely night wherever you are. And thanks for reading:)

Vote!

Last night I went for a nice little run in preperation for the Times Colonist 10K tomorrow (eep!- as Kalynn would say). To avoid lugging my entire keychain around, I take off the front door key and lace it into my shoe. Somehow in all the excitement of SEEING a mouse skidding across my kitchen floor, I forgot to replace the key onto the keychain. I knew they were there (could hear them nibbling on things in the walls) but this was the first time I had seen the sneaky rodent.

So I'm locked out! Until my landlord get home.

In the meantime, look at the wonderful country of ours!

May 2 is just around the corner. I can't wait to put my 2 cents in and vote.

I'm back.

Enough with this black background! It's spring, baby! At least here on the West Coast it is...

Two weeks ago it was summer where I was. I guess Mexico is (in our reasoning) always summer, it just skips in and out of monsoon season. I started this post the day we were leaving Riviera Maya. I had pulled up a chair in the "office" part of the resort and started writing something about sitting in a glass room with a thatched roof and watching monkeys play outside but hurriedly left that post when I saw my parents running around outside looking for me. I honestly wouldn't have minded missing that airport shuttle!

Pictures to come, as soon as a find a new charger for my laptop. Now, not only do I have no internet at home, now I am without a functioning computer as well! Gasp. I've been transported back 15, maybe 20 years, to a time where knowing stuff wasn't so accessible and empty space on the desk reserved for laptops was occupied by notebooks, maybe, or a typewriter (for the oldtimers), or perhaps the type of paraphernalia that sits on TOP of my closed, useless laptop.

Cheers for now:)

"Highway"- Ingrid Michaelson

I find it really difficult to create titles for my blog posts- so I'm resorting to song titles if all my creative juices are dried up. (note: if the poll to the right of the screen was asking how are you NOT artistic, I'd have my answer right here).

All I have to say today is that I want an electric car. One of these:

But maybe in yellow. Too bad they didn't quite make it. Maybe the third time electric cars emerge they will hang around.

"Lean on Me"-Bill Withers

Weee! Christmas truck parade or going through a Disneyland 3D adventure at warp speed?
